Our Story

House of God Worship Center, affectionately named after the Hebrew word   "Bethel", was founded in 2006 by Bishop Garry and Pastor Lisa Rodgers.  Equipped with nothing more than a promise from God, weekly services began at the Northampton Community Center in Hampton Virginia, with Bible Study at their local residence.  The assembly began with only 3 members; Garry, Lisa and Sharda Rodgers.  Almost 2 decades later, God continues to fulfill that promise he made to them long ago.

Now with 2 Virginia Locations, and a thriving membership, the future of the ministry couldn't be brighter.  Through community engagement, volunteer service and a commitment to outreach, House of God Worship Center has become one of the fastest growing churches in the Hampton Roads Area!!  Our Mission... Love God, Love People & Serve our Community embodies the essence of who we are and our God given assignment in Hampton Roads and beyond!!  We invite you to come and see what all the fuss is about at HOGWC!!

7400 Warwick Blvd Newport News Va. also known as "The Wick" is our new state of the art community engagement center and worship facility. Home to several Non-profit organizations and community outreach programs, this facility is poised to be a premier resource for the city of Newport News.  An almost 19,000 sq. ft. space used exclusively for meeting the needs of those in the community, God is STILL fulfilling a promise he made in 2006 by equipping House of God Worship Center to Love God, Love People & SERVE OUR COMMUNITY!!
